Description
USS Constellation CV-64 Plastic Model Kit The USS Constellation, the second ship of the Kitty Hawk class aircraft carrier, was built at the Brooklyn shipyard, showcasing a traditional dynamic design. It served as the United States Navy’s last retired conventionally powered aircraft carrier. This vessel played a crucial role during the 1964 war in Vietnam, marking the first full-scale deployment of a war attack aircraft carrier in the region. Following its service in Vietnam, the USS Constellation undertook various military operations in Iran and Iraq. On June 30, 1975, it was refitted as a multi-purpose aircraft carrier. Between July 1990 and March 3, 1993, it underwent an extensive overhaul at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. Although there were plans in 1998 to replace the USS Independence in Japan with the USS Constellation, it was ultimately retired in 2003 due to its condition.
